Mary Clark, Board President

Hello everyone! For those who don’t know me let me tell you a bit about myself.  I live in rural southern Iowa with my husband Brian and our two children, John and Joethea.  We have been part of the bleeding disorders community for 16 years when my son John was diagnosed with Severe Hemophilia A.  The journey has been exciting and ever changing.  I am looking forward to serving the board and working with this amazing group of individuals.  I am excited to work on increasing the diversity of programming within out community, bring more attention to our teens/young adult programs as well as issues related to women are bleeding disorders. If you share a passion for the bleeding disorder community and are interested in giving back, I encourage you to reach out to myself or Thomas and see what YOU can do to help strengthen our community.

Isaiah Reeves, Vice President

Isaiah is currently a medical student at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and is set to graduate with an MD in 2020. He hopes to pursue a career in hematology/oncology. Isaiah has severe hemophilia A and have been involved with several bleeding disorder organizations throughout his life including HFMD, GLHF, and HFA. I enjoy camping, canoeing, and being outdoors. Isaiah participated in the first young adult overnight event serving as a mentor. He is excited to continue to have the opportunity to work with this group and continue to help the organization grow.

Sara Lehman – Treasurer

I live in Ames, Iowa with my husband Brad and we have two daughters Alyssa (21) and Jacy (18).  My father and his 5 brothers had hemophilia.  I also have 3 cousins with hemophilia.  Since my husband and I didn’t have a hemophiliac, while we raised our girls, hemophilia was not at the forefront of our minds.  In 2015, we saw the Clot Trot being advertised to help raise funds for Hemophilia of Iowa.  My brother and I signed up that year and promised to bring more family members the following year.  Since then, we’ve grown the team G9 to over 30 walkers! Shortly after we found out that Alyssa was a carrier, I was asked to join the board. I thought it would be a great way to give back to the bleeding disorder community that has been a huge part of my family history. I want to learn about all the new products and options available to help hemophiliacs today in case we have a grandchild with hemophilia.

Ryan Smith – Secretary

Ryan and his wife Amanda have 2 children, our son Harper (5) and daughter Lucille (2).  Ryan was invited to attend the golf charity event in 2016 and had a great time meeting people and learning more about Hemophilia of Iowa.  After the event he wanted to get more involved.  Ryan has enjoyed serving on boards in the past such as our children’s daycare co-op, Des Moines Music Coalition, to various GIS-related regional boards.  After the 2017 golf event, He expressed the desire to serve on the Hemophilia of Iowa board. He have experience in negotiating contracts, public speaking, and event organizing.  He is excited to bring his experiences to the community to help create a larger membership, and bring new ideas to the table.

Brooke Loving, Member at Large

Brooke and her husband and I have been married for 15 years and we currently are blessed to have six children. Three of our biological children have VWD. Our daughter was diagnosed in 2015. So we are somewhat new to the bleeding disorder community but in the past four years have enjoyed being part of the HOI family and look forward to growing and learning alongside each of you

Ty Adams, Member at large

Ty Adams is 21 years old from Riverside, IA living with severe Hemophilia A. Ty is currently attending Iowa Central Community College majoring in Business and Marketing. When he was 5 days old he suffered a full stroke and was declared legally blind in the left portion of both eyes. Ty remained positive and continued to conquer anything he set his mind to, not letting his bleeding disorder stand in his way.

He is excited to bring that spirit to the board.
