Hemophilia of Iowa, Inc.
Hemophilia of Iowa has a very decorated Board of Directors bringing all different experiences to the board. We strive to continue to move forward in order to continue to best serve our community.
Hanna recently graduate from the University of Iowa where she had the opportunity to serve on various student organizations. Hanna and her family has personal connections to the bleeding disorder community and cares greatly for the cause. She is excited to bring her event planning and fundraising background to Hemophilia of Iowa!
Mark has served on the Hemophilia of Iowa Board for two years before being nominated for Board Chair. Mark and his wife Julie have a 9-year old son who has severe Hemophilia A. Mark is a co-chair for the Golf Outing.
Rita has served on the Hemophilia of Iowa Board of Directors for seven years. She is a very active grandmother. Rita served as the Family Education Chair in 2017 and will continue to chair this in 2018.
Maria has served on the board for several years and is a mother of two. She likes to spend her time baking. Maria chaired the Wine Tasting in 2017 and is excited to work on the Bloody Brunch and Youth Program in 2018.
Kathy Hix has served on the board for two years. Kathy is a nurse at the University of Iowa.
Ryan Smith lives in West Des Moines. His wife (Amanda) and himself have 2 children, son Harper (5) and daughter Lucille (2). He work for a GIS Mapping company called The Schneider Corporation that is based in Indianapolis, IN, with an office in Ankeny, IA. He work as the Business Development Manager for the upper Midwest region that includes all of Iowa.
Kari Atkinson and husband Craig reside in Central City, Iowa. They had no known family history of hemophilia in their family prior to their son Beau being born 13 years ago with severe hemophilia. Kari volunteers for University of Iowa Children’s Hospital Family Advisory Board, HFA Symposium, NHF Advocacy Summit and NHF Inhibitor Summit. She has been involved in much of HOI’s undertakings as a leader in the community and one of her proud accomplishments is starting the first step program in Iowa with another mom and she still serves as a parent coordinator of that program.
Lori Welch is new to the HPC family. She is a dedicated nurse for the State of Iowa and Nebraska area and is excited for the opportunity of learning and growing within HPC and bringing her expertise to help Hemophilia of Iowa.
Janell works for CSL Behring and has served on the Hemophilia of Iowa Advisory Board for three years.
From hosting traditional events to trying something new, Hemophilia of Iowa is always looking to improve. With your help we can continue to do that!
Our Board of Directors come from all different backgrounds bring different experiences to the board. We have all be affected by bleeding disorders understanding what managing a bleeding disorder is truly like.
